Mid Week thoughts from A Mom

So, the little on is tucked in to bed, Hubby is relaxing watching his favorite show and I am finally settled in front of the computer with my obligatory cuppa ;-).

My son has been on my mind most of today - ok your kids normally are, but today for some reason, I felt the need to keep him in my forethoughts.  I know, you are thinking these are normal thoughts for any concerned parent - of course they are.  But why do I choose now to lay a voice to them?  Because I know the decisions I am making today, affect him now....and in future.  The choices I make for my family today will reverberate through everything that lays ahead.   That is powerful to me.  How often do we plod along happily day in, day out, not giving any thought as to what we are doing and the cause/effect reactioin that takes place?

Lots has taken place in the past 6 weeks - birthdays celebrated, Christmas, a new year, a new business started.  For the first time in my life, I am juggling more than I ever have.  Not only my core family, but two careers, dealing with my father's kidney failure, my parents both having major car accidents within 4 weeks of eachother and my ailing grandmother wanting to move back to Germany (yes, a family of rebels here).  Phew. That even sounds like a full plate writing it LOL.  But see...now this is where it gets interesting....because for all that is going on in my life, for all that I know that everything revolves around how I handle things, manage things.... I have never been happier.  Ever.  And here is why....

I am a true believer that God does not give you more then you can handle.  We are never presented with obstacles - they are challenges which make us stronger, a better person.   So my decisions of the past few weeks are setting us on a path that will provide us with the tools we need to be successful in the future, to provide to my family for their wants and needs - to ensure that my Grandma when she does move to Germany has everything at her disposal.

Yoli has given my that opportunity, that avenue - I am taking it.  I am going to continue working hard, trusting in my faith, relying on my family and allowing them to rely on me.  And I know that in the end, this will pay off.   I encourage everyone who may read this to step up, take that opportunity given and let's do this together.  I mean together.   Write to me, Facebook me...twitter me.  Let's join up and make this happen for all us.  Opportunities are what we seek - challenges push us harder to find them.

Yoli Convention

OMG OMG OMG OMG....did I say it?  OMG!!!  it was just the best fun ever to be had legally. Teehee :-) But seriously guys, The first Yoli Convention just rocked the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.  The fact that 1200 people braved the crazy weather, the economy and everything else to be a part of the launch of something this big is just well, amazing.

I do not think I have ever met a more genuine crowd of people in my life  There did come a point where i was thinking "what is wrong with these people??? Nobody could ever be this nice all the bloody time!!!"  Well, they are. 

I am not going to get in to product updates now, that is an entire new blog by itself!  But we learned so much in those 2 packed days, I am still digesting all the info - from plans, to videos, to marketing, to nutrition, to the eco-friendly trees for life and of course the work/life balance tool mindbloom.

Alka Plex - say what???

Have you ever wondered why that cup of coffee set off your stomach or why those chips just didn't settle well at all? Online Marketing Tips from a Newbie

So, on the eve of my trip to the Yoli Convention, I am sifting through the plethora of advertising sites that I have looked at some point and was thinking just how frustrating and down right frightening it can be for someone who has never been very involved with the internet before....and this is coming from a woman who has literally spent her entire career managing online portfolios!

So, this may be of use to those just starting out...or maybe you think I am full of complete rubbish - I am ok with both LOL.

These are some tips from me to you:

1) Facebook Ads - work a charm to drive traffic to your site. They truly do. Don't expect a huge conversion rate though. I am finding it is a fabulous tool to get the word out, but it does not yield 30 prospects a day for us folks who can't afford to spend $400 a day advertising :-) But what I do love about them is that you can in real time set your bids, the ads are approved quickly and you can switch through your ad portfolio easily. A good set up I think.
2) Google Ads - Simply rock. Expensive but such a steady prospect list and you can truly target a group of people out there. Plus they provide you with a great tool to see what key words are working and what isn't.
3) Ad Targeting (adknowledge eg) I think I like them...think. Not sure yet. The reason being is that it seems slow to ramp up. Again, a lot of clicks through but not sure on the conversion/retention front.

Tools that I adore which are....FREE!

1) bit.ly - totally awesome - OMG, how great is it to see what people are clicking on, what drives your traffic etc. Just starting to use it but it works a charm it would seem - will keep you updated on that one.
2) Business Neighborhoods - Like MerchantCircle, PartneredUp, LinkedIn - Great to network, meet others in the industry. Yoli folks are a fun bunch so socializing is easy with us :-)
3) Twitter - if you love to chat, this is the tool for ya. Yes, yes, all strategies aside, I just think it is fun to get on there, speak your mind, concisely of course.
4) Search Engine directory listings: There are a bunch of places that will charge you to do this - yes, it would yield immense results, but let's face it, us start up folk don't have such a cash flow for that yet. One day, one day. But have a dig about and there are tons of services that will push your site through the various search engines for you. Be warned - this does take 6-8 weeks to yield fruit because, well it's free. Those that pay that large sum of money get there first. I say, it is worth the wait.

Ok, that is it for my ramblings today - I am thinking about pulling together some status reports for you guys along the way so that you can see how things work. Let me know if you have anything particular you want me to track for you!

This is a business for most of us - something we all would love to do full time. I know I would love to run my Yoli business all day long. But to get there, we have to start somewhere and work at it. One day at a time. My Opa (Grandpa in German)always told me: "Things that you work hard at are worth having and stay with you - things that come easy are gone just as easy". I do so believe that.

Food For Thought

I am sitting here typing away in my computer/game room, my son next to me watching Transformers as the world seemingly is coming to an end outside - the weather is worsening, deep cold settling in - yes, even Florida is not immune to the cold it would seem!

I was just thinking about what I need to do next, which is rest according to my doctor LOL, but anyone who knows me, knows that is literally impossible for me to do. I am a Project Manager through and and through. That means I plan, I organize, I move things along. That is what I am doing now. Trying to let everyone know just how great of an adventure Yoli can be for you.
